A project led by Dr. Masoud Rahbar Niazi under the supervision of Dr. Orçun Koray Çelebi has been selected for funding in the 2025 call of the TÜBİTAK 2236-A Co-Funded Brain Circulation Scheme 3 (CoCirculation3) Programme.
The project, “The Role of Mixed-Character Dislocations in Enhancing Plasticity in Magnesium: An Atomistic Investigation”, will be carried out at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bilkent University. It addresses one of the long-standing questions in the deformation of hexagonal close-packed metals: how dislocations of mixed character contribute to the limited ductility of magnesium, and whether that limitation can be overcome by design.
CoCirculation3 is an international mobility programme supported under the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND scheme. Fifty-one proposals were selected for funding in the 2025 call, five of them at Bilkent University.
